News has come out of the Justice Department that not only is AG Jeff Sessions already looking into possible crimes committed by the Clinton Foundation, but also that he is considering putting together a probe or a special counsel to address the scandal known as Uranium One.
Assistant AG Boyd, responding to letters from State Representatives said that they will investigate whatever is needed and, “report directly to the Attorney General and Deputy Attorney General, as appropriate, and will make recommendations as to whether any matters not currently under investigation should be opened, whether any matters currently under investigation require further resources, or whether any matters merit the appointment of a Special Counsel.”
This is “politico-speak” for “we are already investigating this and will let you know the results.”
Also under investigation (apparently) are the use of emails, Comey’s handling of the Clinton investigation and possible Russian ties with the Uranium One deal that saw 20% of US Uranium sold off to the Russian government.
It’s about time we had some real movement in this area. For too long the Dems have been calling the plays to their own advantage. Proper openness and fair investigations into what is really happening are the hallmarks of a democratic nation.
And when will the Trump-Russia collusion story finally be put to bed? Yes, there have been people involved in crimes such as Paul Manafort, but this was years before he even got involved with Trump. There is no evidence to date (despite thousands of man-hours and millions of dollars spent) that there is any basis at all to these rumors.
