Trump Calls Justice System "Laughing Stock" and HInts at Death Penalty

In the wake of the New York terror attack, President Trump labeled the Justice Department a laughingstock in the way it deals with the perpetrators of such crimes. He called on “quick and tough against them in what many are considering a call for the death penalty.
He said, “We also have to come up with punishment that’s far quicker and far greater than the punishment these animals are getting right now,” Trump told reporters. “They’ll go through court for years. And at the end, they’ll be — who knows what happens.”
But that wasn’t all. He continued, “We need quick justice and we need strong justice — much quicker and much stronger than we have right now. Because what we have right now is a joke and it’s a laughingstock. And no wonder so much of this stuff takes place.”
And although the White House was quick to point out that he had just called for more decisive action, it seems fairly clear that President Trump was calling for the whole Justice System to get tougher with these people. He said it might be worthwhile sending him to Guantanamo Bay holding facility.
The suspect was shot by police on the scene but is in the hospital recovering from his injuries. Reports suggest that he seems “happy” and has even asked for the ISIS flag to put up in his hospital room. The victims of his craven attack do not have such luxury or opportunity.
This is the system we have. Perhaps it’s not enough.
