Are things slightly settling down between America and North Korea? Dictator Kim Jong-un announced Tuesday that he would postpone the decision on an attack on the American island of Guam.
He is awaiting “the foolish and stupid behavior” of US President Donald Trump, the North Korean state press office KCNA reports.
Dangerous military clash occur
“The Americans were the first to place nuclear weapons near us. The United States must first make the right decision and take the right action to reduce tensions in the area and prevent a dangerous military collision,” says the government.
That means, in this reasoning, that Washington has to remove the atomic weapons and to scramble the great military presence in allied South Korea. North Korea puts pressure on the White House. According to the press office, Kim Jong-un ordered the army to be ready for the moment he decided to attack Guam. The North Korean leader would now be keen on the attack plans.
If Kim fires a rocket on American territory, it’s “game on,” said Trumps Secretary of Defense James Mattis yesterday. He, together with Foreign Minister Rex Tillerson, wrote an opinion article in The Wall Street Journal. Kim must not attack, says Mattis, because the consequences will not be overlooked. In addition, American defensive North Korean projectiles will be released from the air.
Threatening weakens somewhat
The fear that the North Korean crisis is escalating rapidly diminishes somewhat. However, because of the acute (nuclear) threat, the United States keeps open all military options. This in case the diplomatic and economic sanctions against the Asian country fail, said Joseph Dunford.
He was visiting the South Korean president, Moon Jae-in, and had fifty minutes of maintenance on recent issues, including the North Korean provocations. North Korea claims that it has now been able to reach the United States with a nuclear weapon, but that risk is being backed by various US officials.
