Assistant Chief Deputy Clinton Greenwood has died from his injuries after he was shot when arriving at the Harris County courthouse in Baytown,Texas around 7 a.m. on Monday.
Greenwood was airlifted to a hospital but was later pronounced dead according to Baytown Police.
Police said Greenwood was shot in the neck and was able to call for help, saying “I’m bleeding out.” Police are still investigating the incident and are asking the public for more information. Police released surveillance video on Monday night showing the suspects vehicle.
Greenwood, 57, had been in law enforcement for nearly 30 years. He currently worked for the Harris County Sheriff’s Office. Officers stood outside Memorial Hermann Hospital on Monday, consoling one another. Greenwood’s body was later escorted by dozens of police vehicles as it was driven to the medical examiner’s office.
A reward of $65,000 is being offered for leading to the arrest of the suspect. Anyone with information is asked to call 281-422-8371.
